General guidance
The molecular biology revolution in medicine has changed the world of the doctor for what is present-at-hand and ready-to-hand in education and practice. There is now a systems-levels perspective. The 'textbook paradigms' from college are strong supports for this, but physical and biological science ideas shine together in medical school. The MCAT is designed by AAMC to help you accommodate. Accommodation is different than assimilation and involves the interdisciplinary understanding that grows in content review and practice. College ideas work for about two thirds of MCAT questions, but to feel comfortable reading MCAT science passages and answering the questions you need new schemas. These involve interdisciplinary learning goals and research logic learning goals built into the design of the test. The MCAT was created by AAMC to teach what college can't teach you, and so you learn from MCAT passages by missing questions and giving yourself positive feedback!
